Trend Direction & Force Index Smoothed (MT4)
A practical blend of a trend‑direction filter with a smoothed Elder’s Force Index. It clarifies impulse strength behind price moves, reduces noise, and adds clean color states & alerts for MetaTrader 4.
What it shows
- Smoothed Force Index (volume × price change) to gauge bull/bear pressure.
- Trend‑direction filter to keep signals in the dominant bias.
- OB/OS style bands / mid‑zone to detect exhaustion vs continuation.
- (Optional) alerts/arrows — bias flips, zero‑line crosses, band exits/returns.
Trade ideas
- Trend + push: trade in the filter’s direction when Force Index crosses above/below zero after a pullback.
- Impulse re‑entry: after a shallow pullback, enter when Force Index re‑accelerates in trend direction.
- Fade extremes (range): when bias is flat and Force Index spikes to bands, fade back to mid‑zone with structure.
- (Optional) Divergence check: lower priority if price HH/LL isn’t confirmed by Force Index.
Inputs that matter
- Force Index period — responsiveness vs stability.
- Smoothing type/length — less noise vs added lag.
- Trend filter — MA type/period or slope logic.
- Levels/alerts — zero line, bands, flips.
Suggested usage
- M5–M15: pullback‑continuations with zero‑line confirmation.
- M30–H4: trend re‑entries and momentum add‑ons.
- Daily+: bias map and participation strength.
